GEM Advocacy Group Believes…
Safety and security is a shared responsibility by all stakeholders of the community. We deliberately and intentionally confront fear by educating people on being safe. We identify actual and potential threats to school safety and encourage people to report suspicious activities or persons. We consult with schools to increase security. We distinguish vulnerable spaces in, and around, schools to secure them.
90% of students in grades 4-8 have been bullied or harassed in school.
Over 160,000 kids refuse to go to school each day for fear of being bullied.
Each month 282,000 students are physically assaulted in some way in secondary schools throughout the US — and the number is increasing.
How we advocate for you:
Assess the current status of safety and security to leverage strengths and identify challenges
Build an intentional plan for professional development to create an engaging and positive organizational culture
Determine current communication protocols to establish a scalable system for all stakeholders
Create a feedback mechanism to measure effectiveness of implementation

What People Are Saying....
“Dr. Edmondson sees the “big picture” and inspires others to collaborate
to make the vision come to fruition. He seems to consider local
politics, students’ needs, and historically low expectations.”
